The Science & Tech of Beauty

My Tech STEM EdVenture Lab is launching this series of events to explore how science and technology are involved in the beauty industry. Enrolled students will be able to meet some of the brains behind fashion and beauty products.

A week of 2018 summer camp (July 16th- 20th) will be dedicated to the science and tech of beauty.

Roselin Rosario-Meléndez, Ph.D. works as a Sr. Chemist II at L’Oreal USA Research & Innovation Labs. At L’Oreal Roselin is working on the development of new long-wear lipstick formulas. Roselin is one of the proud inventors of the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink lipstick; she is an inventor on seven patents.

Roselin received her doctorate in Organic and Materials Chemistry from Rutgers University, where her research was focused on biodegradable polymers for controlled drug delivery. In her dissertation work, she designed, synthesized and characterized novel biocompatible and biodegradable polymers incorporating analgesic drug molecules into polymer backbones. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey. As an undergraduate student she was part of the Merck & Co Future Talent Program, one of the reasons she is enthusiastic about mentoring students interested in STEM fields.

DO YOU REALLY MEAN
Tech & Beauty?

  • If you have ever wondered which STEM careers are available in fashion or beauty and what types of projects they work on....join us for this series of 60-minute events on March 3rd.

  • A week of activities exploring how science and technology are involved in the fashion and beauty industry is now scheduled for July 16th - July 20th during our summer camp

  • Parents and children (6-14) and high-schoolers are welcome to join us at the My Tech STEM EdVenture Lab for this fascinating, fun series of events.
